Overview

Multi-instrumentalist, author, producer and tuba/bass mogul Bill Muter has a performance career as diverse as his audience. Having performed in venues across the globe, Bill is without a doubt one of the leading commercial tuba and bass players earning him the nickname “Tuba Visionary.”

 

As an educator and clinician, Bill serves as a Jazz / Cultural Ambassador with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, a program that was pioneered by Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie and Duke Ellington in the 1950’s. Bill is a best selling author on Apple’s iBookstore and has written multiple instrumental technique books along with his latest course “The Modern Tuba.” Bill has also served on the Music Curriculum Advisory Board and as a Lecturer for Honeyland College in Lagos Nigeria and has worked with numerous universities across the globe as a clinician and consultant. In the marching arts, Bill has worked with the Boston Crusaders, Crossmen and Colts Drum and Bugle Corps and was also the Music Caption Head for the WGI Gold Medalist “Stryke Wynds.” Bill is currently an adjudicator throughout the state of Florida on the FMBC circuit. Bill is also a music designer for numerous organizations in the South Eastern US.

 

As a performer, Bill was a tuba soloist, percussionist and keyboardist for 5 years in the Tony and Emmy Award winning “Blast!” with numerous tours in Japan, South Korea and North America as well as a residency at Six Flags in Texas. Bill is the tuba player and music director for Drew Tucker & The New Standard and has also performed with legendary artists such as Grammy winner Shaun Martin of Snarky Puppy along with the Snarky Horns, Prince’s MonoNeon, James Francies of the Roots, Stefon Harris, Warren Wolf, Black Violin and Sarah Reich of Postmodern Jukebox.

 

Bill has also worked and recorded with French Multi-Platinum vocalist Mani Hoffman and Bill’s recordings have been featured on MTV, BET, Okayplayer, XXL and more. His solo albums have reached #1 on the iTunes Charts in South Africa and in the Top 30 Global R&B charts. Along with Bill’s studio work, he has recent involvement in film scoring and performance has been featured on AmazonPrime Video, Tribeca FilmFest and also received a nomination for an NAACP Image Award.
