Bulgaria is a wonderful country. Struggling back from years of communist rule, they are doing everything they can to rebuild on every level. This is difficult at best given the fragile and depleted structure the previous government left behind. The people are the soul of this amazing land and their strength and character the backbone that will mold a new society rich in culture and hopefully in balance of old and new progressive ideas. Caught in the middle of this is time, time endured by children and old folks alike who are vulnerable and more or less forced to wait on this transition for better services and care in general. The orphanages in Bariztsa and Petrovo are two such places seemingly forgotten by politicians and various other powers to be in Bulgaria at present. Despite this the children are in good hands for the most part. The people at Petrova are as caring, compassionate and talented as any I've seen. The children are charming, upbeat and fully engaged. Though limited in opportunities, you would never know it by their million dollar smiles, thirst for knowledge and their unconditional love of life. This trip was truly one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I know that together with Pearl Corporation, we will do everything in our power to bring our TRAP program to as many kids and places as possible.
With Love,
Eddie Tuduri

Ben Sarrasin
This is Ben Sarrasin, he is 7 years old. Ben has
Cerebral Palsy but doesn't let it stand in his way ever! Here
he is sitting in with Eddie Tuduri's band, Flip Diggity, in which
Eddie feels that he almost lost his gig! "This kid is funky!!"
Ben has been assisting Eddie in TRAP classes, and of course he
is our youngest TRAP facilitator.

The Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee recently
hosted a two week summer camp for young adults with Down syndrome. The
goal - to teach healthy lifestyle options, self confidence,
self actualization and realization of aspirations, T.R.A.P.
(The Rhythmic Arts Project) was an integral part of the afternoon
curriculum. The Nashville Predators Foundation awarded
the Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee with a grant
that made it possible to secure the instruments and educational
program through the Pearl Drum Company in Nashville. Pictured

The Parent TRAP
TRAP and Pearl have designed a program
just for parents, siblings and friends. Its called The
Parent TRAP. It includes all the educational material
and visual aids that come with our facility package, only difference
being, there are less drums and percussion.
Many parents with special
needs kids are already enjoying the Parent TRAP.
Invite your neighbors and their kids, it’s a great tool
for inclusion and a fun way to learn many basic life skills. Drums
transcend normal logic and lead us in a positive direction emotionally,
physically and spiritually. Get Involved.

Eddie Tuduri visited the
Delaware County ARC in New York this past July, and in the words
of the Community Relations Director, Lucinda Brydon, “We’ve
been teaching TRAP for a little over a month. Staff enthusiasm
is enormous, and we’ve seen some terrific progress in the
individuals who are taking part.” Check out all the
smiling faces! |
8/4/05 The
annual Autism Camp is sponsored by The Ojai Foundation. It
is a week of community shared by over 60 people, parents, siblings
and kids with Autism. Dr. Jaquelyn McCandless and Jack Zimmerman,PhD,
host a format of activities, sharing and counsel in a non judgmental,
caring and spiritual atmosphere. The Rhythmic Arts Project
provides a fun way to address basic life skills, everyone loves
learning through drumming and we feel honored to be part of
this every year.
