Koen Lieckens

Koen started playing recycled cookie boxes at the age of three, but in just a few years moved his way up to the real thing. Like many other kids he spent his teenage years playing in a variety of bands playing as many styles as possible. After graduation he became a student at the conservatory of Rotterdam ( Holland ). In 1993 he was part of an exchange project with Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied with Joe Hunt and Alan Dawson. In the summer of 1996 thanks to a scholarship from the Dutch government, Koen went to New York City, where he studied with Billy Hart and Bobby Sanabria.

Koen first joined K's Choice in the fall of 93 right after the release of the first album " The Great Subconscious Club". He left the band one year later due to musical reasons. Back in Belgium he worked as a drum teacher at the conservatory in Gent and the High School for Fine Arts in Antwerp. In 1999 Koen rejoined K's Choice and is looking forward to getting back on the road with them.
