Christopher WilsonRegional Education Artist - Iowa
Christopher WilsonChristopher Wilson, a young percussionist with an emphasis in marimba, has taking audiences by storm. Wilson was born in a small farm town in southeast Iowa, and received his Bachelors degree from Eastern Washington University as a student of Marty Zyskowski. Wilson studied marimba with Nancy Zeltsman while receiving a Masters degree from the Boston Conservatory.

Since graduation from the Boston Conservatory, Wilson has entertained audiences around New England and his native Iowa. In his young career, Wilson has performed mostly to public audiences who are unfamiliar with both classical music and the marimba. This has included public performances at libraries and assisted living centers, as well as presenting assemblies to schools.

Wilson has also been a proponent of new music. As a solo musician Wilson fills his repertoire with the music of young composers. He has also commissioned new compositions from friends and contemporaries. Wilson currently lives in Iowa City with his wife, bassoonist Jacqueline Wilson, who is pursuing a DMA from the University of Iowa. He is an Adjunct Professor at Kirkwood Community College, and a percussion instructor for the Eastern Iowa Arts Academy.

Wilson is endorsed by the Pearl Drums/Adams Percussion Corporation. He is a sponsored member of their Regional Education Artist Program. He currently performs on an Adams 4.3 octave Robert Van Sice Artist Classic marimba.
