

Simon Fraser University Are World Champions... Again!8/19/2009Sixteen nations, over 200 pipe bands, and 8000 pipe band drummers competed to be crowned the best at the World Pipe Band Championship 2009.For more then 60 years, pipe drummers and fans traveled from far and wide to make "the worlds" the most anticipated, spectacular musical event in Glasgow. Although the weather wasn't entirely perfect, it didn't dampen the spirits of those who competed for the coveted Championship Title.
Congratulations to Grade 1 winners Simon Fraser University of Vancouver, Canada. Their stellar performance sealed their victory to become world champions for the second year running.

Simon Fraser University - 1st
Field Marshall Montgomery (Northern Ireland) - 2nd
St.Laurence O’toole (Ireland) - 3rd
The Strathclyde Police (Scotland) - 4th
The House of Edgar Shotts and Dykehead - 5th
Boghall and Bathgate Calendonia - 6th
Pearl Artists Jim Kilpatrick and Barry Wilson were onhand to meet fand at the Pearl display. Jim also performed a very entertaining fanfair to close the show.
Thanks to all the Pearl Pipe Drum Bands, the Glasgow Council, and the fans who made this incredible event happen.
