Mitch Markovich
Mitch Markovich is best known for being 3-time consecutive undefeated National and 5-time consecutive undefeated Illinois State Snare Drum Champion, and having contributed to or being directly responsible for 12 National and 23 State, Individual & Group Championships in the drum & bugle corps marching percussion field.
Having studied at Indiana University under George Gaber, The American Conservatory of Music in Chicago under James Dutton, and famed Clinician and National Champion Frank Arsenault, he received his Bachelor of Music Degree from Fort Hays State University. He has taught and performed at major universities throughout the United States including Indiana University, Ohio State University, University of Southern California, University of Texas, University of Missouri at Kansas City Conservatory Of Music, University of Wisconsin, and Northwestern University. He recently was a featured clinician at the Percussive Arts Society International Conventions in Columbus Ohio & Nashville Tennessee.
The author of internationally known snare drum classics such as "Stamina", "Tornado" and “Four Horsemen”, he has performed at Chicago's Orchestra Hall and Civic Opera House. Author of a ten part series of solos, duets, and quartets, he has also penned a soon to be published piece for brass and percussion choir called “Creation One”.
In the drum & bugle corps field, he marched with the National Champion Chicago Cavaliers, and has taught, written, or consulted for the National Champion Chicago Cavaliers, the National Champion Chicago Royal Airs, the National Champion Argonne Rebels From Great Bend Kansas, the Santa Clara Vanguard and many others.
Mitch has also been invited to perform and teach at the 2003 and 2004 International Festival of Percussive Arts and lecture at the 2004 and 2005 International Percussion Congress in Warsaw Poland.
