Julie Davila

Julie Davila is a member of the chamber percussion ensemble the Caixa Trio. In addition to the Caixa Trio, she currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Percussive Arts Society and most recently finished a nine year term serving as  chair of the Percussive Arts Society Marching Percussion Committee.

Julie is the founder and executive director of Percussion XS, a dynamic new percussion group featuring middle and high school students from the Middle Tennessee area. Prior to launching Percussion XS, she was the percussion specialist at several high schools in Nashville, Tennessee. Many of her groups have medaled in all divisions of the WGI activity and in 1996 the John Overton High School indoor drum line, under her direction won a National Championship.

As a member of the Caixa Trio and as an active clinician specializing in marching and concert percussion, Julie has performed in Seoul, South Korea, Paris, France, Brasil, Mexico, Puerto Rico and extensively throughout the United States. She is the author of “Impressions on Wood” and “Modern Multi-Tenor Techniques and Solos” published by Row-Loff Productions, and a co-author of “Aptitude” published by Drop6 Media. Julie is an endorser and clinician for the Pearl Drum Corporation, Innovative Percussion, the Avedis Zildjian Company, Evans Drum Heads, and Grover Pro Percussion.

Caixa Trio releases new CD titled Commissioned Works.  Caixa members Julie Davila, Julie Hill, and Amy Smith feature 7 percussion ensemble pieces the group has commissioned between 2004 and 2007.  The works are a great showcase for the versatile talents of the trio and involves a wide range of instrumentation and sound.  They are joined by other notables on this disk including Anders Astrand, Michael Gould, and fellow Pearl and Adams Artist Steve Houghton.
