John Wooton

John Wooton is currently the Director of Percussion Studies at the University of Southern Mississippi.  A native of Lafayette, Louisiana, John has received degrees from The University of Louisiana at Lafayette, The University of North Texas, and The University of Iowa.  John is a former Percussion Caption Head for the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps. 

John fronts his own band, John Wooton & KAISO!, specializing in Caribbean jazz and popular calypso music (www.kaiso-band.com).  He also plays drum set for various jazz and blues groups and casino shows on the Gulf Coast.   John is presently serving as a member on the Percussive Arts Society Marching Committee.
