Jeff Prosperie
Jeff Prosperie is currently the Director of Percussion Studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and performs as Principal Percussionist with the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, Natchez Opera, Chorale Acadienne, and section percussionist with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra.
Previously, Jeff instructed in Texas at The Colony HS, University of North Texas, and Baylor University while completing work towards the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Percussion Performance at UNT in Denton. Prosperie earned his Bachelor of Music Degree from Louisiana State University and his Master of Music Degree from the University of North Texas.
Mr. Prosperie served as Percussion Caption Head for the DCI World Champion Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps 1990-95, and as Percussion Designer and Arranger 1993-95. Mr. Prosperie has also instructed the award winning drum lines at UNT and Louisiana State University.
As a performer, Jeff marched in the snare lines of the Bayonne Bridgemen, Star of Indiana, and the Phantom Regiment. Mr. Prosperie was the winner of the 1988 DCI World Snare Drum competition, 1988 PAS International Snare Drum Competition, and the 1988 DCM competition. Jeff also won the 1989 PAS International Orchestral Snare Drum Competition as well as the 1995 PAS International Mock Symphony Audition. Mr. Prosperie currently serves as an adjudicator for DCI and PAS.
Jeff’s teachers include Dr. Robert Schietroma, Leigh Howard Stevens, Doug Howard, Mark Yancich, Ed Soph, Dr. John Wooton, Marty Hurley, and Dennis DeLucia. Mr. Prosperie has presented clinics/performances and adjudicated throughout the United States, Europe, Canada and Japan including PASIC, Texas Bandmasters Association, and the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic.
Mr. Prosperie recently composed, published and recorded a solo CD/DVD of solos through Drop6 media entitled Aptitude: A Conversation in Snare Soloing. The book received the highest ranking of the very rare perfect “10” from Modern Drummer Magazine declaring it to be a classic.
