Allen Joanis

Allen currently serves as President of JW3, a music publications and pageantry arts design company. (www.jw3.com) Allen also serves as the Executive Director, Program Coordinator, Music Composer/Arranger and Co-Visual Designer for the WGI World Class Percussion Ensemble Surround Sound Percussion located in Fort Worth, TX.
Allen is equally accomplished as a drill designer and composer/arranger for winds and percussion. He is an accomplished sound designer and audio technician with a specialty in music for film and media.

Allen's compositions are highly influenced by the music of Danny Elfman, James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer.
Allen performed as a member of the 1993 Cadets of Bergen County Drum and Bugle Corps from Bergenfield, NJ (1993 DCI World Champions) and the 1995 Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps from Newark, DE. He also performed as a member of the 1998 University of North Texas Indoor Drumline (1998 PASIC Indoor Drumline Champions). Allen has performed with the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra from Lynchburg, VA as well as numerous chamber ensembles in Tennessee and Texas. Allen studied music at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, Radford University in Radford, VA (BMME 2001) and the University of North Texas in Denton, TX.

Allen's scholastic instructional and design resume includes such groups as Marcus High School from Flower Mound, TX (2006 Texas 5A State Marching Band Champion and 9 Time PASIC Drumline Champion), Ronald Reagan High School from San Antonio, TX (2 time BOA Grand National Runner-up and 2004 WGI Open Class Finalist) and Dobyns-Bennett High School from Kingsport, TN (2000 WGI World Class Finalist).
Allen finished as the first runner-up in the 1998 PASIC College Snare Drum Championships. He served as Visual Caption Head for the 1998 Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps from Canton, OH and Percussion Caption Head for the 1999 Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps. He served on the percussion staff for the 2000, 2001, and 2003 Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps from Fort Mill, SC. He also served as the drill designer for the 2007 Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps.

Allen is a Pearl/Adams performing artist and a proud endorser of Encore Mallets, Inc.
He is happily married to his wife Sandy. They have a wonderful 4 year old son named Will. Allen enjoys riding his Trek mountain bike in his spare time as well as playing the game of "Life" with his son Will. (It's his favorite board game!)

Original Star Snare Soloist for the Tony and Emmy Award winning Broadway show, "Blast!"

 

Nick Angelis has been involved in the drum corps activity since 1979. Throughout 15 seasons, he marched with The Satellites from Leicester, MA from 1980-87, The Spartans from N.H. 88 and 89, The Boston Crusaders 90-91, The Santa Clara Vanguard 1992, The Star of Indiana 1993, Brass Theater 1994, and aged out of The Blue Knights from Denver, Col in 1995

As a marching performer, he was crowned The 1992 Drum Corps International Rudimental Snare Drum World Champion, 1993 Drum Corps Midwest Champion and was a part of the 1993 Star of Indiana World Champion Percussion section.

Nick has taught and or written, for numerous marching bands and drum corps all around the country including:

In 1994, he performed as a soloist in Star of Indiana’s Brass Theater Featuring The Canadian Brass.

He was an Original Featured Star performer for The Tony and Emmy award-Winning Show, Blast! From 1999-2003. He performed in London at The Hammersmith Apollo Theatre, opened in New York City at The Broadway Theater and was in The 1st National Tour, performing in over 40 cities.

Nick was the solo opening performer introduced by Walter Cronkite at the Kennedy Center Honors for President Clinton.

He also performed on NBC’s, “Broadway on Broadway” in front of 50,000 people live in Time Square, NYC.

Nick attended The University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he received a degree in Music Education.

He is currently The Assistant Band Director for The University of Cincinnati Bearcat Bands under the direction of Dr. Terren Frenz.

He continues to do clinics all over the world and has studied under Thom Hannum, Ralph Hardimon, Alan Murray, Scott Johnson, Colin Mcnutt, Jim Ancona and many more.

Christopher Retschulte is the Director of Percussion at Winston Churchill H.S. in San Antonio Texas. Churchill is the 2003 WGI Percussion Scholastic World Champion, Consistent BOA Grand National Finalist, and Texas State Marching Finalist.
Mr. Retschulte was formerly the director of percussion activities for Clear Brook high school in Friendswood (Houston), Texas - the 2005 WGI Scholastic Open World Champion.

Christopher holds a master's degree from the University of Massachusetts, as well as a bachelor's degree from Eastern Kentucky University. He has studied and taught with some of the best in the business, including Thom Hannum, Rob James, Jim Ancona, Jim Casella, Murray Gusseck, Ralph Hardimon, Steve Ulicny, Glen Crosby, Brian Perez, and Dustin Schletzer.

He was a member of the front ensemble of the Star of Indiana Drum and Bugle Corps in 1993 and has gone on to instruct numerous drum corps including Star of Indiana Brass Theatre, Troopers, Boston Crusaders, Cadets of Bergen County, Blue Knights, Santa Clara Vanguard and is now the Front Ensemble writer/technician for The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps.

Additionally, he has been on staff with the University of Massachusetts Percussion Department, the University of Massachusetts Marching Band, and Thom Hannum's Mobile Percussion Seminar and has also taught and arranged for numerous high school programs.

Chris is also an active composer and arranger, and is published through Keyboard Percussion Publications. He is an endorser of Vic Firth sticks and mallets, Remo drumheads and is also a member of the Vic Firth Education Team.
