Gripping the Keyboard Mallets

Extend your hand, palm side up.

Place the mallet into your open hand and grasp the mallet between the fleshy part of the thumb and the middle joint of the index finger about 4-6 inches from the end of the shaft. The spot between the index finger and the thumb is called the FULCRUM.

The shaft of the mallet should rest naturally in the main crease of the palm with the remaining three fingers curling naturally around the mallet.

Turn your hand over with the palm facing the floor.
